Main Story Walkthrough

Click here for a walkthrough that covers how to complete the main story.

Unfortunately, this walkthrough does not contain much information about several different optional features/quests. For example, it lacks information about how to obtain all of the Gimmicks and Gimica cards.

This walkthrough was written before the unofficial English translation was released. This means that some names and descriptions may be altered from the unofficial translation.

How to obtain Binkies

Slower Methods

Normally, you can uncover hidden Binkies by pressing the "A" button while touching a sparkle. However, there does not seem to be nearly enough hidden Binkies to unlock all of the Gimmicks. However, this should not stop you from collecting them whenever possible. You can earn a decent amount of binkies as you progress through the game if you are looking out for the hidden ones.

You can also obtain Binkies through certain minigames. If you come across a minigame that is required for story progression, try completing it again if your score or rank was not perfect the first time. You may be rewarded several binkies for perfection.

Fastest Method

(IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO GRIND/FARM BINKIES, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE BALSAMIC DOME)

The most effective way to obtain binkies is through trading AWE points. There are several merchants located throughout the Ketchup Kingdom who will exchange a full AWE-gauge for some Binkies.

This walkthrough assumes that the player has access to the Balsamic Dome. However, as along as you find a merchant, and a way to sleep, the general setup is the same.

First, you need to think about what two Gimmicks from Demille and Alesa's collection you can consistently and successfully use at Level 7, the highest difficultly setting. Most players find that Demille's "Tail Wag", and Alesa's "Fumigator" Gimmicks are the easiest to use since they require only button mashing and minimal thought. Have Demille and Alesa equip your two best Gimmicks in the first available slot (so you can mash the "A" button and immediately select the attack), set their difficulty to the highest setting, and head over to Pokypine Wood.

Once you arrive, make your way through the area while battling every enemy in sight. Once you have a full AWE-gauge, immediately exit the area and head over to the Balsamic Dome (or wherever the closest merchant is). Once you are here, go up to the merchant and exchange your AWE-gauge for 3 Binkies (full gauges with Sofubi yield less binkies, Rellek has not been tested). After you obtain your binkies, go sleep on the pink sofa (or wherever you can sleep the closest) to fully restore your Gimmick uses. Once you are rested, head back to Pokypine Wood and repeat the process until you obtain your desired amount of binkies.

How to obtain all of the Gimmicks

As you progress through the main story, the Hanzo brothers will provide Demille and his friends with new Gimmicks. However, the Hanzo brothers do not provide you with all 50 Gimmicks.

In order to complete your Gimmick collection, you will need to trade with Kaizo. His laboratory is located in Oystown, in the hole to the left of the building shaped like a hippopotamus. He will provide you with new Gimmicks if you exchange enough Binkies with him. In order to unlock all of Kaizo's Gimmicks, you will need to trade a total of 180 binkies.

How to complete Gimica and obtain every Gimica Card

What is available before you complete the Main Story:

(IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO COMPLETE GIMICA AND UNLOCK ALL OF THE CARDS, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU UNLOCK ALL OF THE GIMMICKS BEFORE STARTING)

First of all, it is highly recommend that you unlock all of the Gimmicks before you attempt to start fully completing Gimica. The Gimmick cards (the ones that you can not select in battle) that correlate to the Gimmicks you have unlocked increase in power as you receive more powerful Gimmicks. Having access to these cards will allow you more opportunities to deal massive amounts of damage to your opponent.

Another reason for doing this, is because you will need access to all of these Gimmicks in order to unlock all of the Gimica Cards. Once you master a Gimmick (successfully use it when it is set at Level 7 in battle), you can talk to Big Bretha in the Lardosseum and she will give you prizes for your effort. Eventually, she will give you more Gimica cards as a reward.

Second of all, don’t even bother trying to rise up the ranks without first unlocking the “Secret Cards”. In order to unlock these cards, you need to talk to the Gimica Receptionist at the Lardosseum and attempt to set up a Link Battle. After you are done talking to him, Demille will automatically walk towards an NPC in front of the stadium entrance. This NPC will prompt you to press the "Start" button to begin the Link Battle, do not do this. At this point, you need to enter the secret inputs. By using these inputs you will unlock the Parasan and Abira cards.

Secret Input #1 - Left, Up, B, Down, Up, Down, A + B, Right, A, Down, Up, B

Secret Input #2 - Up, Right, A, Down, Right, B, Down, Right, A, Down, B + A, Up

The Parasan card restores your health by 50 points. The Abira card damages your opponent’s health by 50 points. Once you get these cards you should add both to your deck immediately. If you are not able to do this yet, you do not have enough cards in your deck available to swap out. If you have not unlocked the cards Big Bertha gives you, go unlock them. If you still do not have enough cards, you probably have not started playing Gimica yet. Go beat the Gimica Guy in the Lardosseum, and Selemo in The Spillage (they are easy enough to beat with lower level cards and Gimmicks), in order to get more cards.

Last thing, you will want to use save states if you are playing on an emulator. Make a save state every time you beat someone in a match. That way, if you lose in the next match, you can go back to that save state and retry without any penalties counted against your rank. Ranking up may take a long time, but if you use save states, you will never lose your progress.

At this point, there are two more cards that are obtained outside of battle.

To obtain the T.Robo card, backtrack to The Mayo Hole and find the broken down Tomato Robo in the river. Alesa will look inside the robot and a find a card.

To obtain the second Pothead card, find the Gold Pot inside the factory area of Gimmick Palace and return it to Pothead. Instructions to complete this task can be found in the Main Story Walkthrough.

What is available after you complete the Main Story:

There are several Gimica cards that you can not obtain until you complete the Main Story. Once you finish the Main Story, you will be prompted to load your clear data. After you load the data, go back to the Lardosseum and speak to Big Bertha. You will learn about new Gimica players for you to challenge. As you beat these players, you collect the last cards.
